EMAC will be part of an incredible team of industrial partners, national lab researchers and academics to explore what it takes to run large scale grids with very high levels of production from wind, solar and batteries using so-called grid-forming converters. More information available here.

DOE Advanced Grid Modeling funding awarded
EMAC will collaborate with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, CU Boulder and MIT’s Julia Lab to develop the next generation of grid modeling tools. We’ll be building on our power simulation software, powersimulationsdynamics.jl (PSID), developed by EMACers Rodrigo Henriquez and Jose Daniel Lara. PSID is described in more detail here. More information on the project is available here.
EMAC to begin collaboration with Enphase
Enphase Inc has awarded EMAC a one year project to explore decentralized microgrid control algorithms. We’ll be building some on this peer-to-peer energy trading paper.
